One for the Money (PG-13)- Katherine Heigl

So, I've been reading all the Janet Evanovich's 'Stephanie Plum' novels, and I absolutely love them. I've been wanting to see One for the Money ever since I started reading her books, and a couple weeks ago, some friends from church asked us to go watch it with them. I was totally down to go since it was in the discount theater by then. 

Just a few things- the movie followed the book pretty well. I mean, the book was written in the 1990's and the movie just came out so it didn't seem really important to follow the book all that much. My husband said the movie was better than he expected it was going to be. I thought it was alright. But you want to know what really pissed me off? Ok, so in the books, Evanovich makes Morelli and Ranger seem like these very attractive men, all muscle-y, good-looking, drop dead sexy men. And as I've been reading them I've had my own idea of how they looked. But the freaken actors who played them are so disappointing! They are not attractive at all, especially the guy who played Morelli. I was expecting someone so much better looking than that. I mean, almost ALL movie stars are sooo attractive, and they had to pick one of the most unattractive actors out there?!? Come on! I was super disappointed.

When I read the books, I still picture my Morelli, not that guy. Besides the fact that the actors didn't do anything for me, the movie was good. I'd watch it again. It's one of those movies where it's not all that great, but if it were to be a rerun on TV all the time like Legally Blonde, I would watch it every time it came on.

Korean BBQ- Shik Do Rak

I had never eaten so much weird food until after I married my Asian husband. I remember one weekend the first month we were married and living in California, he took me to a Vietnamese restaurant to eat Pho, a Japanese restaurant to eat Ramen, and a Chinese restaurant to eat Dim Sum. Three days in a row! I like Americanized Chinese food, so that weekend was just too much for me. His mother also likes to cook dishes that aren't really "normal" for me, and some of the time I don't like them either. Although, her egg roll things are delicious. So it wasn't much of a surprise to me that for my brother-in-law's birthday, he wanted to eat Korean BBQ. Let's just say, I wasn't all that excited to go to dinner. 

Well, it turned out that it was actually pretty good. We ate Bulgogi, beef brisket, and banchan (Korean side dishes). We kept ordering a lot of the Bulgogi because that was my husband's favorite, and he sure did eat a lot. It was actaully kind of funny because he was trying to keep up with his mom; she kept eating til the very end. It was really good food; I liked everything I had. I wouldn't mind going back and eating there, but I don't think I'd ever choose it myself.

Horrible Bosses (R)

I watched this a long while ago. I remember that Jennifer Aniston's part was pretty funny, and there must have been some funny parts for me to rate it a 7 on IMDb.com, but as I think about it now, I don't have any desire to watch this movie again. Not much else to say about this movie I guess. One of those movies to see once for fun, but that's about it. I wish Jennifer Aniston would actually do a really great movie like Sandra Bullock did with The Blindside. Jennifer needs one of those types of movies.

The Hunger Games (PG-13)- Jennifer Lawrence

After our ward women's softball tournament about a month ago (which we won btw), a couple of friends and I wanted to go watch a movie together with our husbands. Of course, they wanted to see something that was out in the big theater, not the dollar theater like us poor folk, and the only good movies out that seemed interesting to me were "This Means War" and "The Hunger Games." They also threw in "John Carter" but I sure as heck didn't want to spend 10 dollars on that movie. Yes everyone, 10 bucks for a movie. I don't know if that's how expensive it is in San Antonio, but that's how much it is here in California. I was really shooting for "The Hunger Games" since that seemed like a good movie to spend that much money on, so I offered my husband and I to wait in line for the movie since one couple would be out having dinner before we all met up. Everything worked out great and we got some pretty good seats. 

So about the movie. I thought it was done really well. After watching the previews for it, I was pretty iffy about this Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss. She looked like she was going to be another one of those awful child actors like Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and Kristen Stewart in Twilight. But Jennifer Lawrence was really good. And I think the movie followed the book almost perfectly. Of course there were some things they left out, and some other things they changed a bit, but it wasn't that much of a difference from the book. I loved it.

Cowboys and Aliens (PG-13)- Daniel Craig

Awful. I hate westerns. I hate alien movies. And this is both. 
Ok, I'll give it that it was better than I expected. I was thinking it was going to be super boring because all westerns are super boring. And then I thought it was going to be complicated to follow because all alien movies are hard to follow. But it was neither of the two. It kind of kept my interest and it wasn't hard to understand, but like I said before, I hate other planet movies. Or things from other planets. So, I didn't like it. Maybe I just had a negative attitude the whole time because my husband wanted me to watch it with him, but I honestly would have been fine never seeing it.

Stephanie Plum Novels- Janet Evanovich

After I finished The Hunger Games, I couldn't find any other books to read. As you know now, I love books that turn into movies, so I tried reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That didn't work out so well. Too many big words. And I didn't understand what was going on in the beginning, so I decided to return it. Then I took a trip to Walmart during my lunch break and decided to look for other books to read there. I found The Vow and One for the Money- both movies. I tried checking out both of them at the library, but they weren't there. I decided I would just read one of them everyday while I was at lunch at Walmart so I wouldn't have to pay for the book. I didn't want to read The Vow in public though because that would have been embarrassing, so I started One for the Money. I got all the way to chapter 9 and then the people at Walmart took the book away! Now I had to find a way to get the book back because I was in the middle of it. I tried a different library by my work and it turns out the One for the Money is the first book of an 18+ book series! I was super excited because now I would have more books to read while my husband was home playing video games. AND, I love these books!

These are the ones I have read so far. They are so good. Basically Stephanie Plum becomes a bounty hunter in the first one, and each book is a different case she's on. It's pretty much just the story of her life chasing after these people, but she also has this sexual tension between her and these other two guys: Joe Morelli and Ranger. Morelli is someone she's known since high school who has a bad reputation with women and is a cop, but they become involved with each other, and Ranger is a fellow bounty hunter who kind of trains and helps out Stephanie throughout the books, but kind of intimidates Stephanie with his mysteriousness. These books literally make me laugh out loud sometimes. I love the way Evanovich writes. I would totally recommend these books to all girls who can take a few cuss words and who don't flip out at a few sexual situations.

Young Adult (R)- Charlize Theron

I was very disappointed with this movie. The previews made it look like it was supposed to be a funny movie, so I was super excited to see it. It turned out to be kind of depressing... and weird. It reminded me of Revolutionary Road in that it made me have an uncomfortable feeling when the movie was over. It started out super slow, and there really wasn't a good plot, and it had a pretty crappy ending. My husband told me it was the same person who did Juno and Up in the Air, and I hated those movies. They were awful. I'm pretty sure I'll never watch another movie by Jason Reitman. He sucks. And this movie sucked.
