Guardians of the Galaxy

So far in my rewatching of all the movies, this one is my favorite. It is so fun, there are so many funny moments, it has great music, and I like the story. So Peter Quill aka Star Lord went and found this orb. He goes back to his planet or whatever to sell it to this guy and get the money for his leader friend, the blue guy. When he tells the pawn shop guy that Ronan's goons tried to take it from him, he kicked him out and said he didn't want anything to do with the orb if Ronan was interested in it. Gamora, who works for Ronan, is told to go capture the orb from Peter and bring it back to him. Rocket and Groot and like bounty hunters and they see that Peter is worth a lot of money to turn him in so they go after him too. So there's this big commotion going on as they are all kind of fighting each other, and then the police people come and collect all of them anyways and send them to jail. While in jail they come together, figure out that Gamora is actually going against Ronan and not going to work for him anymore, and she knows someone who will accept the orb for a much higher price. (The collector guy who already has the aether). She just doesn't want it to get into that hands of Ronan because he will give it to Thanos who will destroy the planet Xandar with it. They break out of jail with another guy Drax, go to the collector to sell it, but his servant takes hold of the purple gem and destroys herself and the collector's shop. They take the orb back and find out that Drax has summoned Ronan to come to him because he wants to avenge his wife and daughters deaths by Ronan. Ronan ends up taking the orb, and Peter calls the blue guy to come pick him up. The blue guy almost kills him and Gamora because Peter kind of betrayed him, but ends up keeping them alive so they can go back to Ronan and get the orb back. Peter calls the police people again telling them whats going on and asks for their help. So now its Peter, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Drax, and the blue guy's people, and now the police people all fighting against Ronan and his army to get the stone. They end up getting the stone in the end of the battle and give it to the police people to take care of it.

My favorite scene is the jail scene. Rocket tells Peter he needs this guys prosthetic leg to escape from jail when he doesn't really need it. Drax takes everything literal like the finger to the throat thing, and the "don't call me a thesaurus," and laughing like he's on the funnest rollercoaster when they go crashing into Ronan's ship. And then the funny parts with Peter telling Gamora about Footloose and she's like "who would put sticks up their butts?" And then Groot protecting them all in the end when they are about to crash and he sacrifices himself, and Rocket is so sad that he's going to lose his friend. And then how they all come together with the infinity stone so that Peter doesn't die from holding it. There are so many great parts. It is such a good and fun movie. 




So far the infinity stones are the tesserac which is secure on Asgard, the aether which is secure with the collection guy in Guardians, and now this power stone which is secure on Xandar in Guardians.

Captain America 2

Captain America: The Winter Soldier: The main plot of this movie is Hydra (what the Red Skull guy started in the first Captain America movie) has infiltrated Shield. Fury is building these big machines that can kill people who get in their way, and Shield allows him to continue with this project because secretly Hydra is going to overtake these machines and kill everyone in the world who is or will be against Hydra according to calculations and computer stuff they figured out about every single person in the world. Well Fury "dies" and tells Captain America to not trust anyone. And basically Captain America and Black Widow have to figure out who killed Fury (which was Hydra) and once they figure out about Hydra they have to stop them from killing everyone. The people still working for Shield don't know who around them is actually still Shield or Hydra. Anyway, so Captain America and Black Widow and the new guy Falcon take on Hydra, who also has the Winter Soldier who is actually Steve Rodgers childhood friend Bucky. So he won't kill Bucky, he keeps trying to get him to remember who he is. So basically at the end, the machines are destroyed and the leaders of Hydra are captured, but Shield is still completely shut down because they don't know who is working for who and they have to start all over again.

This movie is one of my favorite of the Marvel movies. It gets a little confusing since you don't know what's really going on with Hydra until Captain America figures it out. But I love the scene with Fury in the car and showing up at Rodgers place. I love when Black Widow is disguised as one of the leaders of Shield and goes after the guy in charge of Hydra, and then Fury comes back from the dead. I like that Fury dies and you think he'd dead for a majority of the movie, but then he comes back when they get to the secret Shield spot. And I love the scene when Captain America is in the elevator and he figures out that all the guys coming into the elevator are actually there to take him down. It's a real fun movie.

Thor 2

This movie.. is a great movie. I think Loki is my favorite character for sure. 

So like every so many years, the nine realms line up in the universe, and apparently the last time this happened the Dark Elves tried to destroy all the other realms with an infinity stone called Aether. But Thor's father, King Odin, destroyed the Dark Elves, or so he thought, and they took the Aether and hid it to where no one would be able to find it. Well this time that the realms lined up, Jane (Thor's earth love interest, Natalie Portman, a scientist) finds a spot on earth where there's some sort of portal thing going on. She goes to check it out because she's hoping that it's Thor coming back to see her. She ends up being portaled to another realm where the aether is and she becomes it's host. Thor comes down to Earth because his all seeing guard tells him that he can no longer see Jane. Thor notices that Jane is "ill" and takes her back to Asgard with him. The king figures out what is in Jane but can't/won't help her. The Dark Elves come to Asgard because they sense the aether's power, and they end up killing Thor's mother. Thor goes against his father's wishes, takes Loki out of prison so that they can go together to meet the Dark Elves so that aether will come out of Jane's body. Thor has to trust Loki that he won't betray him in order to do this because Loki is the only one who knows how to travel outside of Asgard when the bifrost is shut down so no one can come or go from Asgard. Loki wants vengeance on the Dark Elves too because they murdered his mother. Anyway, Loki ends up keeping his promise to help, the aether leaves Jane's body, but the Dark Elves end up possessing its power like they wanted and kill Loki. They go to earth to destroy the realms when they all line up. Jane and Thor end up being able to stop it from happening. 

Loki is such a great character is this movie. You never know if you can trust him or not. When they go to see the Dark Elves, Loki uses his power to transform to pretend to betray Thor, cut off his hand and stab him, but it ends up being a trick so that it looks like Loki is on the side of the Dark Elves. And then I just love that he wants to be so angry at his mom and dad for taking him away from the frost giants and preparing him to become king only to stop him from doing so, and he wants to hate his mother but he loves her so much and just become so vengeful when they murder her. And then you think he's a good guy again because of his mother's love, but he doesn't end up dying by the Dark Elves, he goes back to Asgard and transforms into King Odin, so you're left not knowing if he killed his father or not or how it all happened, and if he's a good or bad guy. And then Thor has nothing but great things to say about Loki to the king, even though Loki is disguised as the king, so he hears all the greatness Thor thinks of him, so does that soften Loki to love Thor again or not..? Love this movie.

Iron Man 3

Now this is the Iron Man movie that I really like. Tony Stark has become really anxious because of the giant worms that came from another realm in the Avengers movie. So in order for him to not have nightmares, he just doesn't sleep and ends up building a lot of Iron Man suits. The bad guy in this movie is the Mandarin, who comes on all television channels and threatens everyone. He basically blows things up without using a bomb. Tony becomes interested in the Mandarin when his buddy/ex-bodyguard Happy almost gets blown to pieces. He starts to investigate and threatens the Mandarin on the news that he is going after him, and if the Mandarin wants to fight him, he gave him his address. Well, the Mandarin's peeps show up and destroy Tony's house, and the Iron Man suit that Tony is wearing takes him all the way to this hillbilly town where the first explosion happened. He meets this kid who helps him (I love the interactions with the kid, super funny), Tony ends up figuring stuff out, finds out that Mandarin is just a drugged up actor who is working for the real bad guy. The bad guy somehow gets Pepper and Tony tied up, Tony escapes, goes to find Pepper, and then there's this loooong fight scene again, but this is the scene that I was waiting for in Iron Man 2, when all the suits show up and start fighting the bad guys. Pepper becomes an explosive person and ends up killing the bad guy in the end and then Tony Stark seems to "be done" with Iron Man.

I really like this movie. I like the little kid in the movie, he's a fun character.. helps out Tony because he's into all the nerdy tech stuff too. I love that when you finally see the Mandarin, he's just some really drugged up actor who doesn't really know whats going on with everything.. really funny too. The bad guy story is better than the past Iron Man's I think. And I love that Pepper kicks butt in the end. This is for sure my favorite stand alone Iron Man movie.

Avengers

This movie was amazing. I wanted to see it again right after we finished watching it. I love humor in all movies, and this one had a lot of it. The action was good. The story line was good. The actors were good. I didn't get confused during it. It was a great movie.

This was my review from when it came out the first time. I think I disagree with myself again. Lets see, this story is Loki making a deal with these bad guys to come to Earth and takeover so that he can rule over everyone. Shield gets all the Avengers together to stop him from doing so. Oh, Loki also comes and takes the tesseract from Shields protection and turns Hawk Eye against them. Then Ironman, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow and the Hulk come together to make a plan of what they are going to do. They capture Loki and put him on the aircraft with them. Loki's plan is just to get the Avengers to argue and fall apart and have Banner become the Hulk and destroy everything. Hulk and Ironman find out that Shield was using the tesseract to build nuclear weapons and feels like they are not being told everything. Anyways, they end up falling apart, but then getting back together to beat the aliens that are coming from a hole in the sky and destroying the city... with a 45 min fight scene. 

Things that don't make sense during this movie: 

How did the Hulk go after Black Widow when he turned into the Hulk the first time on the aircraft, but then when he turned into the Hulk the second time, he was like fully aware that he was on the Avengers side?

How did Thor come back to Earth when last we saw he destroyed the bridge that lets them travel to different realms?

I mean, I'm not going to lie, it's still a fun movie and I still enjoyed it, but it was definitely not as fun as the first time I watched it apparently. 

Captain America

Story: Steve (before he becomes Captain America) is this scrawny little guy who has health problems and wants to join the military but can't. An exception ends up being made for him, he then goes through training, struggles a lot, but the doctor who made the exception still chooses him because of his good heart for others to do an experiment. The experiment ends up making him super buff and with extra strength powers. Well, the doctor had been experimenting with this before and it got into the hands of a bad guy. His power wasn't as strong, but he was developing other powerful weapons and things. Anyway, Captain America goes through the whole war destroying all that this bad guy has built and continues to go after him. Ends up getting the bad guy, but has to fly a plane full of bombs into the ocean and die to protect everyone else. He doesn't end up dying, but stays asleep for like 70 years and wakes up present day.

I liked this movie, but it felt like a really long movie. So like, after he becomes CA, they still don't let him fight in the war, he becomes like this TV guy for America to love. He ends up not wanting to do that anymore and he actually wants to fight, then finds out that his childhood friend Buckey is lost at war. So CA goes to find him without authority, brings all the troops back who were caught AND THEN goes after the bad guy, so it was like two movie endings in one movie. I got kind of bored after a while, it just dragged a little bit. But definitely my favorite part is when Steve is scrawny and he's just doing the best he can, and the sergeant or whatever throws a grenade into the group of troops, everyone else runs away and this scrawny little guys jumps on the grenade to protect everyone else.. so sad. Of course it's a fake grenade but I just love that scene. 

Thor

I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile because Thor will be in "The Avengers" this year, and if I want to fully understand that movie, I need to know the stories behind the characters. So my husband and I finally got around to watching it, and at first, I thought it was just a really weird movie. I know superhero movies aren't real, but I like them more when they "can" be real. Like in Superman, Spiderman, and Batman, these superheros are on earth hiding from people, not giving away their identities, which makes it seem more real, and it is more enjoyable for me. So when Thor started out in this other world, I just didn't really like it. I think that's why I don't like Star Wars and other things like that. But Thor did get better... once he got to earth. It was funnier, more interesting, and more "realistic" I guess. So about the movie, my husband made a good point. How did Natalie Portman "fall" for Thor so fast? Was it just because she saw him with his shirt off? Because he was a huge stuck-up butt when he got to earth. I thought that was a push for a love story. And my husband also didn't know when Thor's personality actually changed. When did he go from this stuck-up butt to a noble person? I think it was when he realized he couldn't grab the hammer thingy. But it's not really clear. The movie was alright. I don't think I'd watch it again though. 


That was my post from the first time I saw this movie. My opinion has changed quite a bit. I love Thor. The story is Thor is about to become king, and his brother Loki is jealous. Loki secretly lets in the frost giants during Thor's crowning ceremony, Thor gets upset and goes to their realm and tries to kill them all. Loki knew Thor would react this way, and then Thor ends up being cast out to earth. While on earth he has to figure out where he is, and how to get back to Asgard. So from my previous post, while on earth he learns to be a true hero because he can't pick up his hammer, Loki comes to visit and tells him his father died because of Thor's behavior, then Loki sends a monster to destroy Thor and I guess Thor's sacrifice and fighting allows him to get his hammer back. He returns to Asgard to find that his father is not dead and him and Loki fight. The thing that doesn't make sense for me this time is: 

Thor goes to the frost giants home to destroy them and because of this he is exiled.

Loki wants to become king and as acting king he starts to destroy the frost giants home.

If Loki was trying to do something that Thor would hate, why would he do the same thing Thor wanted to do in the beginning?

because when Thor and Loki were fighting (Thor was trying to stop it from being destroyed) Loki says something like "she has made you soft" talking about the girl on earth. 


Anyway, so then Thor destroys the portal for the Asgard's to travel anywhere, so he can't go back to earth to his girl until it is rebuilt or whatever. I love and hate Loki. You just want him to be good because his feelings are just hurt. I don't know. But I love Thor. Maybe not like this movie in particular but I love his character.
