The Last Black Unicorn

Omg. Let my just say I have never read an entire book in one day until this one. I love this book. I love reading autobiographies by celebrities I like, or by celebrities that have a lot of gossip being said about them because you know, I just love the chisme. My brother in law buys me these for Christmas almost every year. I've read Tina Fey's, Amy Poehler's, Mindy Kaling's and now Tiffany Haddish's.

Tiffany is just so funny. Her book is basically just all stories about her childhood and her mom and her ex boyfriends and her ex husband. Some of the stories I just couldn't believe they were just so crazy. One story actually made me gasp out loud, but I guess I do that often because my brother makes fun of me when I do it during movies. I was laughing the whole way through the book and telling my brother some stories from it. She is just so nasty it makes me laugh. I love how much she just doesn't care what other celebrities think about her and how ghetto she still is. She tells about how guy comedians always wanted her to sleep with them in order for her to open up for their shows and get exposure, but she never did that because she was wanting to make it on her own. And then after the movie Girl's Trip, they all started blowing up her phone and wanted her on their tours and stuff and she's like.. nah. Ugh, I love that. I don't know how true all of it is like if she really didn't sleep around with some of them, but to be able to make it and then turn them down... that's the best. Oh, but going back to how ghetto she is.. when people would like tell rumors or give her a hard time and treat her like she wasn't important.. she would always threaten them like she had people that would kill for her.. hilarious. I really enjoyed the stories of her childhood. She couldn't read until she was in high school, and she always got away with not being able to read because she could just talk her way out of everything, and I believe that for sure. It was a real fun book and I would totally recommend everyone to read it.. 18 & up.. she does a lot of cussing and like I said.. she nasty.

Whip It

I've tried starting this post three times and every time I get to it I just want to get it over with. I guess that shows how much I didn't care for this movie.

The story line is that this girl's mom wants her to be in all these debutante beauty pageants so that she can learn how to be a lady, but this girl just looks gross and likes to look gross... never has her hair brushed, always wearing clothes too big for her and dingy looking. Obviously she just doesn't care to be in any of these pageants, or to be a lady. She ends up finding out about these roller derby chicks and decides she wants to do that instead. She sneaks around and joins a team even though she's too young to play. She ends up being assigned to the suckiest team but because she's so good that team starts to win a lot and ends up going to the championship. Well, someone finds out that she is too young to play, and her parents find out that she's been playing, and a beauty pageant is on the same night.. so she decides herself that she won't go to the game. Then her dad looks her up online and finds all these videos of her playing and how good she is and decides to let her play in the championship game, because she needs parents approval to play since she's too young. She ends up playing and her whole family shows up and supports her, even her mom, which I thought was the cutest part of this movie.

I did not really like this movie. It was like a fun, easy movie to watch, but I just did not like how she dressed and looked and acted.. like wash yourself. It was fun to see how many actresses I knew though.. there were a lot. I just don't like the main actress.. Juno.. I don't even know her name but in all her movies she plays the same character.. girl who can't dress herself, who doesn't care about what anyone says, acts older than her age.. bleh.

About Time

I started a new job two months ago.. and I am absolutely loving it. I came from a bank that was all about sales goals, giving you so much responsibility and no time to complete anything, and just so busy and so stressful and not appreciative of anything, with not enough pay. Now I'm at a bank where I have no goals, I do simple transactions, it's not busy and I have all the time in the world to get on social media and watch movies. Soooo.. that's exactly what I did. I watched About Time over the last three days at work. And I'm even at work right now writing this blog.. on a Friday.. at a bank!

So this movie is about this guy who can travel back in time like all the men in his family before him. His dad tells him this secret and he thinks he's crazy, but he decides to try it anyways. They have to go into a dark room and squeeze their fists and close their eyes and think of a place they want to go in the past.. which I think is super silly but whatever right. He decides he wants to use his power to find love.. which he does.. and he has a baby, but as the years go by his sister gets into some trouble with this guy, gets drunk and gets in a super bad car accident, and he decides to take her back to when the relationship first started. The sister ends up not getting together with that guy, and when they go back to the current time everything is fine with her. But apparently when he goes back in time after having a baby it changes the exact sperm that got his wife pregnant, so now he has a boy instead of his one year old daughter..(?) I don't know.. It didn't really make much sense to me how nothing else would have changed but whatever right.. so he has to go back and lets his sister date that awful guy and then get hurt and then fix it herself. blah blah blah. But thennnn.... times goes on and he has a second child and then his dad gets sick with cancer. So when he passes away the son isn't too sad because he can always go back in time to visit his dad. Then his wife wants another baby... but if he has another baby.. he's run out of extra time because if he goes back again he won't have the same baby.. and that's when it gets kind of sad.

I think it was a pretty cute movie. He is so cute to the girl he loves and vice versa, how they play with each other and treat each other. And the relationship he has with his family, especially his dad is super cute too. It was a fun movie to watch.

Nacho Daddy

So this past month my brothers, husband, two year old and I went to Vegas for my 30th birthday. We didn't really have much planned out to do besides see the Jabbawockeez show, so when it came to eating out we basically hit our phones to see what was popular around us. On our last night there, we went down to the original strip or the old strip or whatever its called, and I was getting real hangry. My husband suggested going to this little food court thing and I was like heck no! I don't ever come to Vegas so I wanna eat something that I can't get at home. So I looked on Yelp and I found this place called Nacho Daddy.

Now if you know me you know I looooooove nachos. Basically my favorite food. I eat them for breakfast, for a snack, at all sporting events, for lunch or dinner, over here, over there.. I love nachos. So of course I made us all go, plus it had really good reviews on Yelp. We got seated right away, it was kind of like a Buffalo Wild Wings kind of place with a bar and sports on the TV, but they also had some like 90's music videos playing so that was fun too. It's always fun when my husband knows these weird random songs that I have never heard of before and the band names and everything, but that's another story.

So we get seated and the service was quick and pleasant. Didn't come hassle us all the time, made sure our drinks were full, you know all the good stuff.

Now the nachos.. omg. So their slogan is something like "never a dry chip" right? Because you know all these nachos peeps are stingy with their cheese and toppings.. always gotta be asking for extra cheese because I got 20 bare chips left on my plate and charging me 50 cents for it. Well, their slogan was so true. I got to like the fifth layer of my nachos and these chips were still packed with food. Not just cheese but the chicken, guac, beans, everything was on them. And they were sooo good. I was so happy with my selection that I couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the night and the next day. Really wish we had a Nacho Daddy in Texas.. also I love the name so that's a plus too. I might be hyping it a little because I was super hungry that night, but I honestly don't think I'm even doing it justice. So good.

American Made

Hello again! It's been quite awhile.. five years. Soo, we've bought a house, had a baby who's about to turn two. But let's get back to business.

So I most recently (get it?) watched this movie American Made. It's about how the drug cartel kind of got started in the US and this guy name Barry Seal who was a pilot who worked for the CIA and then decided to start with this drug stuff, but I don't think it was really by choice.. he was kind of forced into doing it or they would've killed him, and then he was stuck doing it for years or they would have killed him, and guess what happened in the end.. they killed him. The movie makes it seem like he actually enjoyed it though. So the CIA knew that he started doing this drug stuff, but they didn't really stop him from doing it because they needed him for something with fighting and war and guns, I don't remember exactly what, but I don't think it's too important. But then the DEA found out about the drugs and came after him, and the CIA pretended they didn't have anything to do with him. But somehow, he got this deal with the DEA that if he helped them out and got pictures of the cartel, then he wouldn't go to jail. Well, he did what was asked of him, but then the pictures were released and the cartel came after him because he was a little rat.

Overall, the movie for me was confusing because when it comes to history stuff they already assume you know the basic background of it and if you're me.. you don't. So I had to ask a lot of questions. Other than confusing, it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it at least. There's this one part where it shows him having so much money he couldn't launder it anymore in the banks because it was just too much, so he had to start digging holes in his backyard and burying duffle bags full of cash, and stuff them in his shed and at his work and ugh, it just gave me anxiety. And I also loved how loyal his wife was to him while he was doing all this illegal stuff. Stuck by him through it all, but I mean who wouldn't with all that money coming in. I also like almost anything Tom Cruise is in so good movie.
