This is a very disappointing sequel to such a good movie. Guardians 1 is my favorite of the Marvel movies so far, and this one is just so dumb. Basically, Quill finally meets his father after all these years. His father is a god who went down to Earth and found his mom, so Quill is half human half god. Quill goes to his father's planet Ego, which is his father basically, like his father is the planet and the body and the plants and whatever. He finds out that he is also a god and that the both of them together can take over every planet and everything in the galaxy and it will all become the two of them and nothing else will exist. Turns out that Ego has actually mated with hundreds of other beings, but Quill is the only one who had god in his blood. Ego had to kill all of his other children. Yondu was the one that was sent and paid to bring Ego all of his other children to him, but when Yondu found out what was happening, he kept Quill to himself so that he wouldn't be harmed by his father. Yondu told Quill that the reason he kept him was because he could fit into small places so that he could steal things easily, but it was really because he didn't want to take him back to his father. The guardians have to destroy the brain of Ego which is in the middle of the planet, and when they finally do, Yondu is there to save Quill and ends up dying for him. He says something like, he may have been your father, but he wasn't your daddy, because Yondu is the one that took care of Quill is whole life.
It's a very simple story, like the whole first hour is pointless to the main plot of the movie. It's not as fun as the first one that is for sure. I think it's because I'm pregnant, but the ending did make me sad when you realize that Yondu was always there to protect Quill and ends up dying for him. There's not much else I really liked about the movie. Drax wasn't even that funny.
